Williams Adley is proud to announce that Erika Correll, Director, has been featured in the Fall 2025 edition of the Society of Defense Financial Management (SDFM) Armed Forces Comptroller (AFC) journal. Her article, titled “Driving Efficiencies in Government: A Strategic Imperative for Defense Financial Management,” provides an overview of key insights from SDFM’s recent workshop hosted in partnership with Oxbow Integrators and Syracuse University: “Driving Efficiencies in the Government.” Drawing from discussions throughout the event, Erika examines how, amid technological advances, geopolitical volatility, and an increasingly complex risk landscape, efficiency has evolved from a basic operational goal into a national security imperative.
“Efficiency is about more than cost-cutting; it is about ensuring that every dollar entrusted to the Department of Defense strengthens readiness, empowers the warfighter, and sustains public trust.” - Erika Correll, Director
Throughout the article, Erika distills the perspectives of the defense financial management leaders who participated in the workshop, offering a high-level exploration of the industry’s most pressing challenges and the strategies best suited to address them. Covering topics such as maximizing constrained resources, balancing efficiency with mission execution, strengthening workforce engagement, and harnessing automation, each speaker provided a distinct approach to reducing risk through enhanced efficiency. Through these case studies and panel insights, Erika underscores that efficiency is not merely cost-cutting—it is a mindset that empowers the workforce, accelerates mission outcomes, and fortifies trust with the Federal Government and the American public.
We encourage you to read Erika’s full article in the Fall 2025 AFC Journal (available to subscribers and SDFM members) to gain a deeper understanding of how efficiency serves as a force multiplier for defense missions.
